picture discussion

This picture is probably taken in a conference room. There are two person smiling and shaking hands, with many others in the background. From the way they dress, in suit and tie, the two people are probably some VIP or ministers of two countries that has just clinched a deal or made a pact. This is most probably some diplomatic conference, that ended on a good note, that is why both of them are smiling so widely. They might also be just putting on their smile for the reporters to take pictures.
From the picture, there are many people in the background. All of them have something hung from their neck; those might be their pass to enter the room as journalist or reporters. Most of them are holding a camera on their hand. They were probably sent here to do a report on this event, and to take pictures so that they can be published on the newspaper.
The two main people on the picture look like they are Chinese. They might both be from either Taiwan or China, to discuss some issues, maybe to improve diplomatic relations between both countries. Both look happy and satisfied with the conference, so they might have reached a decision which both countries are happy with. I believe that everyone would also like both countries to have a good relationship between them, instead of having to see conflicts because of the issue on the merger. I am glad that this conference ended well, and hope to see the both countries work together.
I remembered mentioning earlier that both of them might be putting on a façade to allow the reporters to take a picture of them. Their smiles seem fake, especially the man on the right. He seem to be forcing out a smile, it looks as if he is relieved that the conference ended well and cannot wait to get out of the conference room where he has to face all the photographers. His face might even be tired after smiling again and again, but he still has to put on his diplomatic smile to please everyone in the room no matter how tired is he of smiling. While the other man on the left seems to smile more naturally. I guess he is more experienced with this kind of conference and is used to posing and smiling for the camera.
This seems to be a very huge conference where many important personnel or politicians are present, semi-official bodies representing both countries. That can be easily inferred from the many copies of papers and bottles of mineral water on the long table of the picture. I guess that this conference is aimed at consolidating and building trade ties of both countries. This is usually the case in such conference, just like Singapore and other countries. I believe that as long as both countries have mutual trust and understanding, it will become an important communication mechanism for cross-strait development.
This talk might be able to push forward the trade and culture exchanges of both countries. It might also be part of a dramatic warming in relations that the current Taiwan's president began the elections with, promising closer ties with China. Something which the ex-president of Taiwan tried to steer the island away from.

An interesting choice of picture - do be careful and limit your discussion to mainly the picture rather than any general knowledge you might have. For example, you can comment about the men's age rather than discuss the conflict between China and Taiwan.
