Hey!

This picture depicts a scene of people sleeping in what seems like a shelter, after a natural disaster. There are around 7 people resting on mats and mattresses, and their belongings are scattered around them. From the way they are simply dressed I can tell that they are victims of the natural disaster, and have been dispatched to a temporary shelter for they may have lost their homes. I think that the shelter is actually a large storage room, because there are numerous sacks of crops or fertilisers piled up neatly in the background. The fact that a regular storage room is being used as a shelter for refugees show that the disaster that has occured cost many people their homes and any spaces available is needed to keep them sheltered. Also from the way the people are sleeping soundly, I can tell that they are really exhausted from what they have been through.

There is a man sleeping at the bottom right hand corner of this picture, and from the fact that he is oblivious to his shirt being rolled up revealing his bare stomach shows that he is really deep in sleep. Compared to the other refugees, this man has his bags placed close to him. He has a waistpouch strapped onto him and he is clutching a black office bag under his arms. In my opinion, the two bags contain important documents such as passport and money, hence the man decided to put them near him to prevent theft. I believe he is a person who is feeling insecure at the moment as he did not really trust his fellow neighbours, perhaps due to the recent disaster.

The two children sleeping donned in similar shirts may be his children, and there is a possibility that his wife is still missing as there is no sign of a woman near them in the picture. I think the man had been out searching for his beloved wife for a long time and has decided to come back to rest after no avail. From the position that the two children are asleep, I reckon that they have cried after knowing that their mother is still missing.

After this picture is taken, I think the man would probably continue look for his wife after he has wake up. He will probably bring along his personal belongings which has a picture of his wife and ask around other shelters for any infomation. From the condition of a place usually after a natural disaster, he would leave his children at the shelter in the care of other refugees. From the way that the man is looking for his wife, they have a very strong relationship and his wife probably play an important role in his life.

In conclusion, in times of crisis we have no idea what is going to happen. Hence we have to cherish the people around us and enjoy every single moment with them.

A valiant attempt to develop a sustained analysis of the situation in the picture; however, do not speculate too much about things not in the picture. For example, the man may not have a wife, so concentrate more on what you can see in the picture.
